Contribution:
We start by exploring the incredible value each team member brings to the table. We chat about their recent contributions, successes, and goals for the next quarter. It's a chance to celebrate wins and set our sights on new horizons.
Capability:
Next up is a deep dive into knowledge, skills, abilities, and experiences. We discuss areas of growth and development over the past three months and pinpoint what they'd like to learn and achieve in the next quarter.
Connections:
Building strong relationships is key to success. We talk about the connections they've nurtured and explore opportunities to expand their network. After all, success is sweeter when we rise together.
Career:
In this section, we delve into their career aspirations and identify any desired changes in their current role. It's all about helping them carve a path that aligns with their dreams.
Compensation:
Finally, we touch on recognition. Feeling valued is essential, and we discuss ways to ensure our team members feel appreciated for their hard work and dedication.
Using the framework is simple!
Before the conversation, team members answer the questions in the "Career Conversations - Employee Version" and share it with me. I then complete the "Career Conversations - Manager Version."
During the conversation, they take the lead, while I provide coaching and prompts from the manager version.
Afterwards, they update their "Career Conversation Doc" based on our chat and set three personal development goals for the quarter.
